Love Aylmer? Help Protect Its Story.

The Aylmer Heritage Association (AHA) invites you to attend our 2026 Annual General Meeting.

For 50 years, our volunteer-run organization has worked to protect and promote Aylmer’s built, natural, and intangible heritage. We document local history, organize events, publish books, and maintain rich archives — including original records dating back to 1800, rare photographs, documents about founding families, and unique collections such as the Graham aviation collection.

Did you know that Aylmer has the largest concentration of heritage buildings in the entire National Capital Region?

This meeting is an opportunity to:

  • learn about the Association’s recent activities and projects
  • meet others interested in local history
  • discover our archives and collections
  • help shape the future of the organization

⚠️ Call for Board Members
Like many volunteer organizations, we need new people to get involved.
At this AGM, several positions on the Board of Directors must be filled. Without a board, the organization — and everything it protects — cannot continue.

What does being involved look like?
📅 One monthly board meeting
⏱️ About 1–2 hours of volunteer time per week
📁 Helping with projects such as archives, research, events, outreach, or communications
🌍 Working in a bilingual (French/English) environment — a great opportunity to strengthen your second language
No prior nonprofit experience is required. Whether your background is in history, architecture, law, communications — or you simply love Aylmer — there is a place for you.

If you care about:
🏠 Aylmer’s historic homes and buildings
🌿 The natural landscapes and history of the Ottawa River shoreline
🗣️ Preserving local stories and community memory
📚 Passing heritage on to future generations
…we would love to meet you.
