Greetings,
The Aylmer Heritage Association (APA-AHA) blog was created by architectural heritage enthusiasts from the APA-AHA Architecture Committee in 2018. The goal is to preserve the architecture while ensuring sustainable and respectful socio-urban development in Old Aylmer.
The Aylmer Heritage Association is a vital organization for the conservancy of historic buildings in Old Aylmer, in context with a sustainable socio-urban development.
This blog is dedicated to the historical significance of Aylmer’s past, present and future history of the Outaouais, Quebec and Canada.
The mission of the blog is to educate, inform and encourage participation in the design and preservation of Old Aylmer.
We believe that the conservation of heritage buildings is essential because it contributes to a sense of a sustainable identity and continuity for future generations in a rapidly changing world.
Historic buildings are physical links to our past. It’s not just about saving stones, but saving information history of our lives and those of our ancestors. Otherwise we would erase the stories of our past, as if those people who had preceded us had never existed.
As a result, heritage buildings need a formal protocol to protect them and allow for the development of sustainable, respectful integrations in the area.
To build a harmonious future, we have to acknowledge the past. This understanding is also useful for new arriving people integrating in our community. We create today the heritage of tomorrow.
Lest we forget,
Architecturally in concert,
